The Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) voted to approve an overhaul to the Lifeline subsidy program yesterday. For the first time, Lifeline will now support stand-alone broadband service as well as bundled voice and data service packages. The plan also modifies provider eligibility rules and sets minimum service standards.
