The FCC today announced the Agenda for its Distributed Antenna Systems (“DAS”) and Small Cell Solutions Workshop, which will be held May 3, 2016. This comprehensive workshop, presented in conjunction with the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (“NATOA”), is a “can’t miss” event for anyone interested understanding the the current state of, and future trends in, IoT deployment.
The workshop will feature experts providing a wide-ranging overview of DAS and small cell technologies from business and technology perspectives. Successful in-building and outdoor deployments of these technologies will be discussed. Examples include effective deployment of DAS and small cells in medical centers, subway tunnels, college campuses, as well as various public safety applications.
Ground-breaking case studies of DAS and small cell deployment will be reviewed, including the 2016 Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Papal visit, and the City of Boston’s successful test runs.
The FCC is holding this workshop in order to inform private sector businesses and governmental entities at all levels about the benefits and economic opportunities of DAS and small cell deployment, which will expand mobile broadband, augment wireless data coverage and aid first responders. In short, this event will cover the waterfront on IoT trends and will aid businesses in planning their own IoT deployment.
