FCC Terminates Carrier’s 214 License Due to Non-Compliance with Team Telecom Conditions

SHARE

In an Order released today, the FCC took unprecedented action by terminating the Section 214 International Authorization (“214 License”) granted to California-based carrier, Wypoint. The basis for the FCC’s decision appears to be Wypoint’s (1) apparent non-compliance with conditions imposed on the 214 license by Team Telecom, an inter-agency group responsible for national security-related matters, and (2) failure to ensure carrier contact information on file with the FCC is up-to-date, an omission which resulted in numerous failed attempts by the FCC to contact the Company.

The FCC’s termination of Wypoint’s 214 license serves as a cautionary warning to other 214 licensed and 499-registered telecommunications service providers regarding the importance of post-licensing compliance. Service providers concerned about their FCC compliance may wish to consider working with The Commpliance Group, the affiliated consulting arm of The CommLaw Group, where “FCC Only” regulatory compliance reporting can be outsourced for as low as $250 per month.
